Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial

Hitler rose to power in Germany in 1933 on an anti-semitic platform that called for the "racial cleansing" of Europe. This was the beginning of the Holocaust, the systematic annihilation of over 6 million Jews at the hands of the Nazi regime. Yad Vashem in Jerusalem is as the world's central Holocaust memorial, museum and research center. It offers a graphic display of the Nazi atrocities and the chronicles of Jewish resistance. Yad Vashem commemorates the Jewish martyrs, children and Righteous Gentiles that saved Jewish lives. It also remembers the hundreds of Jewish communities in Europe that are no more.
