Active Adult Israel Seminars

Oranim is happy to announce its newest educational endeavor,
Shorashim Israel Study Seminar.

The Shorashim program offers a three week Israel study and travel program for active seniors that want a serious intellectual challenge and a behind the scenes look at Israeli society.

The program is based in Kibbutz Guest Houses in Jerusalem and the Galilee.

Program elements:

Survey Jewish history from the days of Abraham to modern times.
Visit sites in Israel that correspond to these periods..
Mifgash (Encounter) with an Israeli host community.

Program Highlights include:

Hearing Israeli scholars and experts in the fields of ancient and modern Jewish history, Zionism, Holocaust studies, Israeli politics and Israeli society.

Traveling Israel with the finest tour educators who transform ancient and modern sites into moving Jewish experiences.

Meeting with activists and members of the Israeli Masorti and Progressive Movements of Judaism to understand the intense struggle for religious pluralism now taking place in Israel.

Experiencing the Kinneret Courtyard and Cemetery in a presentation based on diary entries of the chalutzim (pioneers).

Singing the history of modern Israel through stories and songs of each period.

Interacting with Israeli Arabs in their village in Galilee and learning about the issues of minorities in Israel.

Building at Pinat Shorashim Biblical Peace Garden at Kibbutz Gezer. Here participants explore the link between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel.
